My Notes from PMI Leadership Institute Meeting 2025 and Global Summit Europe
"A project is successful when value exceeds effort plus cost." The PMI Leadership Institute Meeting 2025 (LIM) in Barcelona and the PMI Global Summit Europe that followed were not just two important events for me. They were also platforms where I felt my international responsibility more closely in my role as PMI Turkey Chair, contributed, and experienced our representation strongly.

PMI Leadership Institute Meeting 2025 (LIM) in Barcelona and the PMI Global Summit Europe that followed were not just two important events for me. These gatherings were also platforms where I felt my international responsibility more closely in my role as PMI Turkey Chair, where I contributed, and where I experienced our representation deeply.
🎯 Redefining project success:
Value > Effort + Cost
PMI now evaluates project success not only by the time–cost–scope triangle but by value created.
This approach especially resonated with me, because it makes concrete something I have observed in the field for years:
"A project is successful if, in the eyes of participants and stakeholders, it has created value worth the effort and cost."
This understanding invites an important shift in mindset. It is no longer enough to "do project management" well. What matters is that the project's outputs produce meaningful, effective results that deliver real contribution.
🧭 M.O.R.E. – New Depths in Leadership
The M.O.R.E. model introduced at LIM was one of the frameworks that expanded my view of leadership.
The model stands for:
- Manage perceptions
- Own success beyond PM (Own not only project management but the project's impact)
- Relentlessly reassess (Continuously review parameters)
- Expand perspective
These concepts can be an important guide for developing project management culture. Managers need to focus not only on outputs but on stakeholder perception, changing conditions, and seeing the big picture.
🌱 PMI – GPM Partnership: Sustainability Is Now a Core Responsibility
The partnership between PMI and Green Project Management® (GPM) announced at PMI Global Summit Europe was, in my view, a turning point.
Sustainability is no longer a trend; it is a responsibility every project manager must carry.
This integration, led by people who are making a difference globally, was both inspiring and guiding for us.
💡 An Inspiring Story: Mick Ebeling
Seeing Mick Ebeling again on stage—whom I had met at the Los Angeles summit—was a great source of motivation.
His Not Impossible Labs, built on the philosophy of "making the impossible possible," reminded me again:
Leadership is not only reaching goals; it is the courage to make what seems hard to reach possible.
🌍 PMI Turkey's Rising Voice
At the summits in Barcelona, PMI Turkey was the country with the highest participation.
That is not just a statistic—it shows that this community, which we have grown through volunteering for years, now has a voice that is heard globally.
This experience made me feel once again:
As PMI Turkey Chair, this path is not only organizational but a journey of creating societal impact.
📣 Closing Words
I want to speak to every colleague, volunteer, and fellow traveler who reads this:
The project managers of the future will not only manage the work calendar; they will be leaders who create meaning, inspire, and transform society.
As PMI Turkey, I am proud to be part of this transformation.
Stay with us, let's learn together, let's make an impact together.

At PMI Global Summit 2025 in Phoenix last month I saw again: project management is not just producing documents—it is making the right decision at the right time, aligning stakeholders to the same goal, and managing change. Standards are evolving, the AI agenda is accelerating, the community is growing. What still makes the difference in the field is the same: discipline + clarity + relationship management.

Starting with an idea is easy. Persisting with courage is valuable. But what really makes the difference is being able to finish.
